Homemade baking soda tablets for deep cleaning your toilet
If you have a problem with bathroom cleaning, you’ve probably already tried many industrial products. You may have found some to be good, others to be fair, others to be bad, or even terrible.
The problem, however, is that it is not at all obligatory, so to speak, to use these products, which not only cost money, but too often pollute the environment, are potentially harmful and leave behind containers that have to be disposed of.
Baking soda: versatile and multipurpose
If you want to approach the problem of bathroom cleaning in an ecological way, the solution we propose below is the homemade preparation of baking soda-based tablets: they are effective, they disinfect in depth and do not require the use of chemicals.
Baking soda is a powerful disinfectant, it is harmless to health and it is environmentally friendly. In short, we can have it as a precious ally when it comes to cleaning the house.
Homemade baking soda tablets: the “recipe”
To prepare these DIY tablets you will need: 240 grams of baking soda, about fifty drops of an essential oil of your choice, 120 milliliters of lemon juice and a little water.
You will also need some non-stick silicone molds, a spoon, a large enough container, and a spray bottle.
Do it like this
Pour the lemon juice and baking soda into a bowl, then add the essential oil and mix well. If the solution is too thick, you can dilute it with two tablespoons of water.
Once you have reached the right density, pour the mixture into the molds and let them “dry” for at least a whole day.
Once they have dried, your “tablets” (the actual shape will depend on the mould, of course) can be stored in a sealed container. However, you won’t be able to use them straight away – it’s a good idea to wait at least a couple of days before using them “in the field” or in the bathroom.
As for the methods of use, they are the same as those of commercial tablets.
