Let’s go to the kitchen and start with the preparation of the cream.
Cream
You need:
- 2 tablespoons of corn starch
- 250ml of milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
Let’s take the milk and pour it into a saucepan and then add the sugar and cornstarch. Mix with a hand whisk, then add an egg and start mixing again.
We transfer the saucepan to a fire and continue to mix until we obtain our cream. Then remove the saucepan from the stove and let the cream cool to room temperature.
While it cools we prepare the dough.
If you want to skip this step, you can use the ready-made cream that they sell in all supermarkets.
Dough
The ingredients to select are:
- 70 g of butter
- 170 g of flour
- 1 tablespoon of orange blossom flavouring
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 8 gr of baking powder
- 1 egg

In a large bowl we bring the flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Add the yeast, the orange blossom aroma and the soft butter previously cut into cubes. Then we begin to knead with our hands until we obtain a homogeneous and sandy mixture. At this point we add the egg and work everything once again.
When we have obtained a loaf, divide it into two halves: a larger one and a smaller one.
After that we put both halves in the fridge for 60 minutes.
Bodies
For caramelized apples instead we have to use:
- 30 g of butter
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 3 bodies
First of all you need to remove the peel and the core of the apples and then cut them into thin slices. After transferring the apples to a pan we add the sugar and butter. We place the pan on the stove and mix with a spoon until the desired result is obtained.
After the hour we can compose our apple pie.
Preparation of the cake
Line a 22cm diameter springform pan with baking paper. Then we take the dough from the fridge and grate the larger half on the bottom of the pan. After having completely covered the base, place the caramelized apples on top, carefully distributing them over the entire surface. At this point, pour the cream prepared at the beginning and level it correctly.
We cover everything by grating the remaining part of our dough. Let’s give it an extra touch by adding the flaked almonds.
All that remains is to bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees. When the cake is cooked, put it in the fridge for another 30 minutes.
Finally, transfer the creamy caramelized apple cake onto a flat plate and dust it with icing sugar.
