How to prepare a DIY detergent to polish the bathroom and kitchen

By Lesia

Traditional detergents, the ones you buy at the supermarket, are full of compounds that are toxic both for the environment and for our health. Just take a walk through the supermarket shelves to see the variety available, including floor detergents, degreasers and window products.

In this article we will try to simplify your life, free you from unnecessary and toxic products, and explain how to prepare a DIY multi-purpose detergent , completely ecological and suitable for many different surfaces.

The preparation of this DIY detergent for bathroom and kitchen involves the use of essential oils which have degreasing and disinfectant properties , and which will also help us give a wonderful scent to the whole house. The oils we will use are eucalyptus, tea tree and lavender .

Ingredients:

  • a bottle equipped with a spray diffuser
  • 150 ml of white vinegar
  • 150ml of water
  • 20 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil

White vinegar is not only a degreaser, but is also useful for unclogging blocked drains (with bicarbonate), eliminating limescale and mould.

Tea tree essential oil was added for its antibacterial properties, while the other two oils, eucalyptus and lavender , to neutralize the smell of white vinegar.

Preparing DIY detergent is very simple and instant: just pour all the ingredients into the bottle and shake it well. You will need to shake the bottle every time you want to use the product.

Spray the DIY detergent on the surfaces and wait about a minute before wiping with a clean cloth. For particularly dirty or limescale-filled surfaces, such as taps, it may be necessary to do two passes.

Now that you know how to prepare a DIY detergent for bathroom and kitchen , you will have the opportunity to save money and protect both your health and the environment.
