Beauty and Care of Tradescantia Nanouk: A Guide for Indoor Plant Lovers

By Lesia

The Tradescantia Nanouk, also known as Fantasy Venice or Pink Nanouk, is a houseplant appreciated for its beauty and colorful leaves. It is one of the most resistant and easy to care for plants. Discover how to take care of it by reading this guide!

Cultivation:

  1. Choice of container and soil preparation:  Choose a pot with holes in the bottom for good drainage and fill it with a well-draining soil (potting soil is preferred).
  2. Cutting preparation:  Cut a small cutting from the mother plant by making a diagonal cut below the node on the stem. It is crucial that the cutting has at least two leaves and 10 cm of stem.
  3. Planting the cutting:  Dip the cutting in rooting hormones and then plant it in the soil so that the lower part of the stem is covered.
  4. Watering and light:  Water moderately and place the plant in a bright location with indirect light, as direct sunlight can be too intense.

Care:

  1. Temperature and light:  Maintain a temperature between 15° and 29°C; the plant can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but would not survive frost. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
  2. Watering:  Avoid overwatering and do not water too often. The soil should not be permanently wet to prevent root rot or fungal infections. Water when the top 2/3 cm of soil is dry.
  3. Fertilization:  Use a balanced fertilizer once a month during spring and summer, as this is the plant’s growth phase.
  4. Pruning:  Regularly trim off yellow or damaged leaves to promote healthy growth of the plant.

The Tradescantia Nanouk is an easy-care plant that is rarely affected by pests. With just a little care, it will add color to your home and liven up your rooms.
