Cleaning the space between tiles is a  demanding and even tedious job, but leaving them like that is not hygienic and is also unsightly.

Floor grout is one of the essential things to clean for those who love to have a perfectly clean house and  when they are finished with white grout it is impossible to leave them dirty.  In fact, the grout darkens and you can see that dirt has accumulated between the tiles, as well as obviously germs and bacteria.

Whether it’s floors, bathroom tiles or kitchen tiles, cleaning grout is an activity that should be done regularly to keep them as clean and sanitized as possible.

But  what should you use to avoid damaging the joints and to obtain an impeccable result?  Sometimes professional products can contain substances that attack the spaces between the tiles and damage them, so it is advisable to use natural products, or rather ingredients that you can easily find at home.

Among  these we find bicarbonate  , a  natural and degreasing ingredient  , indicated to whiten the joints and leave them as new without altering them. Useful for many operations to be carried out at home, sodium bicarbonate can be used for many other things,  such as for example to unclog the sink and free it from possible blockages  .

Unclog the sink with baking soda

In this case, it is usually  enough to pour a handful into the sink  , add the vinegar immediately afterwards and the sink is immediately unblocked. But how to adjust the dosage? Here’s how to do it:

  • A liter of water
  • 100 g of sodium bicarbonate
  • 100g of salt

Excellent  for cleaning sink pipes  , this mixture is really effective. Boil a litre of water in a saucepan, then pour it into a bowl and add about 100 grams of baking soda and 100 grams of salt.

Carefully mix the salt and baking soda solution,  pour it into the blocked sink drain   and  immediately pour in the boiling water.  Let it sit for a few minutes and repeat the process until the sink drain is clear.

Why spread baking soda between tiles?

Using baking soda between tiles is an effective grandmother’s remedy that can guarantee impeccable results. Cleaning  the small spaces between tiles with this natural ingredient  is a great idea because it ensures very satisfactory results and you notice it as you use it.

You can use baking soda as often as you like to clean the grout between tiles instead of products with bleaches that damage the grout and also cause holes to appear between the spaces. Below is the procedure for using baking soda correctly on tiles!

How to use baking soda on tiles

Here’s what you need to get flawless grout:

  • 100 g of baking soda
  • 200ml of water

Mix  the two ingredients together and knead until you obtain a thick mixture that can be spread  over the surface to be treated. Also use a small brush to scrub the grout and remove any dirt that may have accumulated.

Leave the mixture to act for at least 20 minutes  , so that the remains of dirt soften, then continue rubbing for a few more minutes and finally dry the tiles with a damp and wrung out microfibre cloth.

You can also use diluted baking soda,  simply dissolve 50g of baking soda in 500ml of water and put the solution in a spray bottle.  Spray the mixture on the grout and leave it to act for a few minutes, then scrub with the laundry brush and finally dry with a microfibre cloth.
