Put eggshells in boiling water, that’s why everyone does it!

Eggs: a fantastic food

In general, it must be said that eggs are a very important food for our  diet  . They are a food that contains a lot of protein and various vitamins, such as vitamin B12 and vitamin K2. In addition to these elements, the presence of  calcium, iron and phosphorus is also reported  . In short, we are talking about something that we should always include in our diet. However, like all foods, it is advisable to avoid excessive consumption: if before experts spoke of a maximum of two eggs a week as the advisable amount to consume, today many agree that even four eggs a week are absolutely healthy.

We know that the egg is mainly composed of  yolk  and  white  , which depending on the recipe can have different taste and consistency, but it is mainly the shell that we want to focus on. This can be used for several reasons. Let’s look at some of them.

Eggshells: How to reuse them

Eggshells can also help us when it comes to caring for our garden. In this case, they are able to balance the pH present in the soil, thanks to the presence of  calcium  . All we have to do is wash them well and let them dry for at least a day. At this point, we proceed to break them into small pieces and then sprinkle them on the soil of the different plants in the garden or in our  pots  . All the greenery will begin to absorb the calcium present in the shell and other minerals present in it. The plants will grow healthy, strong and will surely have a longer life.

Another method, however, is to boil the eggshell and then use the water to water the soil. In this way we will obtain a kind of fortified water, which will be rich in calcium and other nutrients. We can adjust the number of eggs to use depending on the space we need to work with: if we have few plants in the garden, even the shells from a handful of previously used eggs will do.

In short, you have seen how eggs can be useful in many ways, even after they are consumed at the table!
