Voted Best Mosquito Trap Ever! Here’s How to Make It

By Lesia

Unfortunately, with the arrival of summer  comes the famous mosquitoes  that often bite us so much that they ruin a pleasant evening in company. There are many solutions on the market that can be used, both for the skin and at home or outdoors. But with this article we reveal to you that  you can create a mosquito trap yourself  that will attract them and no longer let them fly away and solve this annoying problem.

Voted Best Mosquito Trap Ever! Here’s How to Make It

This is the bottle trick,  which attracts mosquitoes inside and prevents them from doing harm. Now you might be wondering what it is all about. Well, first of all you need to get yourself a 1.5 litre plastic bottle or even better if you can find a 2 litre one.  The rest of what you need is hot water, sugar and brewer’s yeast  (you choose whether in bars or in a bag), black cardboard and adhesive tape.

How to proceed to create the mosquito repellent bottle

The first thing you need to do is cut the plastic bottle  at a distance of about 5-10 cm from the point where it starts to shrink. Keep both pieces. In the meantime, heat the water together with the sugar and let it boil for about ten minutes. Then let it cool. At this point  you can pour the mixture  into the bottom of the cut bottle.

Now  add the brewer’s yeast as well  : you can decide whether to use the whole bar (in this case it is best to dissolve it first in a little warm water), just one gram or the powder version, adding the whole sachet. Try it out and choose the one that suits you best.

At this point, take the top part of the bottle (with the cap removed) and place it inside the other bottle upside down.  Secure the two parts with tape  to prevent the chemical reaction between the ingredients from escaping. Finally, cover the edges with dark cardboard.

Place it wherever you want  and you will see that the fusion of water with sugar and brewer’s yeast will trigger a chemical reaction that generates a lot of carbon dioxide, which mosquitoes love so much.  This will form at the bottom of the bottle  and when mosquitoes try to reach it they will get trapped.
