In a period when increases are noticeable, we must pay close attention to waste  . The last few months have been difficult, the energy crisis and the consequences of high bills have invaded the lives of all Italians and beyond. Prices of basic products such as bread, milk and pasta have increased.

To face the coming winter months we need to reduce the impact of rising prices on family budgets and, therefore, we must save in every way. There are some tricks that experts recommend to try to cover your expenses.

For example, it is about food waste and combating waste.  Some food waste can have a second life  , obviously not in the kitchen, but perhaps in the garden and on your plants. For example, grapefruit peels are great because they attract snails and keep them away from the plants.

Eggshells: Here’s Where You Can Use Them

Eggshells also contain a high dose of keratin and proteins. They have many properties and should not be thrown away. They are a real resource for the body, home and garden. In addition, the colour of the shell does not affect the properties, but only differentiates the breed of chicken.

Eggshells  can also be reused and are great to use as fertilizer in the garden  . They are rich in calcium and can nourish the soil with excellent nutrients. Therefore, using the shells can not only be useful but can also save you money as you will avoid buying special fertilizers.

But the savings also come from the correct preservation of food  , which, if stored correctly, can last a long time. Then, with the help of the fertilizer you have just discovered, you can grow some small seasonal vegetable plants on the terrace or in the garden.

Eggshells: More ways to reuse them

Eggshells have many uses  and can even be eaten. They can reduce osteoporosis, cure gastritis, detoxify the body and have many benefits. However, it is very important to disinfect and sterilize eggshells to avoid the risk of contracting salmonella.

Therefore, before reusing them, it is important to wash them well and then sterilize them  in boiling water for at least 10 minutes in water alone or in water and vinegar. After these few steps, you can use them in any way.

For example, the powder obtained from eggshells can be used to slightly sweeten coffee. Or you can use it to whiten clothes by placing it in a cotton bag and then putting it in the washing machine. But it can still be used for sink fillers, decorations and decoupage.

In addition to the many uses of eggshell, it is also used in skin care for its nutritional properties  . It reduces wrinkles but also nourishes the skin. You can make homemade face masks by adding eggshell powder which can be applied to the face.

But it can also be used on nails  and can be added to clear nail polish and, as it contains keratin, it will strengthen them. In addition, the membrane that covers the inside of the eggshell helps healing and should be applied to wounds. Being rich in collagen, it helps speed up healing. It should be left to act for a few minutes.
