CASSEROLE WITH MEAT AND POTATOES

By liliaturcin5

Potato and meat casserole is a hearty meal that can be quickly whipped up for a last-minute dinner. This comforting casserole is made with just a few basic ingredients, and it’s loaded with meaty, cheesy, and flavorful goodness. I’ve loved this casserole for years, and it’s a no-fuss staple that never gets old!

Ingredients:

  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or venison
  • 1/4 cup milk or cream
  • 1 1/2 cups cream of mushroom soup (homemade or canned)
  • 1/2 cup any kind of stock
  • 3 cups thinly sliced potatoes (about 5 potatoes)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder, paprika, or rosemary (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease an 11 x 7-inch glass baking dish.
  2. Cook the chopped onions and ground meat in a medium frying pan. Add the optional seasoning and pepper. Once done, drain off any excess grease.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the soup, stock, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Pour some soup mixture on top, then add half of the cooked meat and cheese. Repeat this layering process with the remaining potatoes, soup, meat, and cheese.
  5. Cover the baking dish with a lightly greased aluminum foil and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until the potatoes are tender. Enjoy!
