Methods for Propagating African Violet from a Leaf

  1. Choose a Healthy Leaf: Select a healthy leaf from the mother plant.
  2. Cut the Leaf: Use clean scissors to cut the leaf at its base.
  3. Trim the Stem: Trim the stem to 2-5 cm and remove excess tissue.
  4. Prepare the Substrate: Prepare moist substrate or vermiculite.
  5. Insert the Stem: Insert the stem into the medium.
  6. Maintain Humidity: Maintain humidity by misting or covering with a plastic bag.
  7. Place in a Warm, Bright Location: Place the leaf in a warm, bright location, away from direct sunlight.
  8. Keep the Substrate Moist: Keep the substrate moist but not waterlogged.
  9. Wait for Development: Wait for roots and new shoots to develop.
  10. Transplant New Plants: Transplant the new seedlings into individual pots.
  11. Care for Adult African Violets: Care for them as you would mature African violets.
    Be patient; it may take weeks for growth to appear.
