5 basic plants that are beneficial to have at home.

By Lesia

Wherever we put them, they bring life and energy. However, they also often have interesting properties that are not necessarily known to everyone. And when there are hundreds of them, it can be difficult to choose one. That is why today we present you a list of 5 beautiful plants that are beneficial. This list is not exhaustive and sets out the first steps to get off to a good start.

  1. Rubber tree Rubber tree (or ficus) is like a small tree, but it has everything of a big one! It has beautiful, vibrant green leaves often veined in a beautiful yellow and has a superpower: fighting indoor pollution. In fact, it is the sworn enemy of formaldehyde, a polluting volatile molecule found in all homes (furniture, glue, particle board…). What’s more, it is not fussy: it feels good anywhere indoors as long as it has space and the sun does not shine directly on it.
  2. Lavender Do you smell that little scent of Provence emanating from delicate violet flowers? It is characteristic of this plant that pleasantly perfumes an interior with its relaxing scent, and whose calming, relaxing, anti-lice and anti-migraine properties are appreciated by the whole family. You don’t need to have a huge field, a simple pot will do! Be careful not to drown it in stagnant water… it prefers dryness to that. In addition, you can use it in many ways, whether you throw a few flowers into a well-deserved bath or let them infuse in water in the room.
  3. Basil A trip to the Mediterranean with olive oil’s soul mate. Yes, its flavour is essential to give dishes a particular aroma, but in addition to delighting our taste buds, it also takes care of our immune defences! In addition, it can also relieve coughs and fevers… a blessing in this season marked by recurring illnesses. Its linalool also helps reduce stress. If you want to receive as much from it as it does from you, you will have to keep it warm, very hydrated and exposed to light. Come on, it’s worth it!
  4. Aloe Vera for personal care It’s a small pleasure to take care of this plant that is not very demanding in terms of water, grown in soil or in a pot and that will feel as comfortable in a garden as it will proudly display itself indoors. Close to a window (without being directly exposed to the rays, either), it will withstand the heat very well. As you will have understood, it is not delicate at all! Its little treasure is the gel hidden inside its stems and which is ultra-soothing, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory. We offer you a reminder of the possible uses right here (and we haven’t mentioned everything yet!).
  5. Monstera deliciosa Ready to have your own authentic, lush indoor jungle? Opt for this large-leafed plant that is unbeatable in combating indoor pollution such as ammonia or formaldehyde. Let’s not kid ourselves: even if it is magical against pollution, it is a plant that requires space, tutors to grow healthily (in nature, it grows along trees) and the lady does not like the cold very much. Therefore, you must keep it in a place where the temperatures are mild (around 20°). Last clarification, its sap is irritating to humans and toxic to animals… nobody is perfect! Handle with care…
