Vinegar-soaked toilet paper: everyone does it, it solves the biggest bathroom problem

By Lesia

Why wet toilet paper with white vinegar?

The   toilet paper and white vinegar trick   can be a real alternative to certain industrial household products. The latter are often toxic and bad for health and the environment, and do not always give the expected results.

  • Toilet paper and white vinegar, an effective trick to sanitize toilets

We’re not going to introduce you to the many virtues of white vinegar anymore. The secret of this ingredient lies in its acetic acid content. It is therefore formidable against limescale, mould and bad odours.  It can be used to disinfect the toilet and prevent limescale and yellow stains from settling in the bowl.   To do this, simply spread toilet paper evenly over the toilet bowl and then spray it with white vinegar. Leave it to act for a few hours or overnight. Remove the paper, scrub with a toilet brush and then flush. Bad odours and stubborn marks will disappear from your bowl!

You can use toilet paper soaked in white vinegar to polish furniture or any other dirty surface in the house. Some people use it to polish their shoes and give them a second life.

Other tips for cleaning the toilet bowl

Aside from the unusual toilet paper and white vinegar trick, there are   other    effective tricks for cleaning your toilet bowl. You don’t need to use expensive, corrosive products to keep it clean and shiny. Try these solutions instead.

  • Clean the toilet bowl with Coca-Cola

If you don’t have white vinegar, you can resort to carbonated water to clean the toilet bowl.  Like vinegar, acidic, fizzy Coca-Cola is very effective against limescale stains.  Simply pour the bottle of soda over the bowl and let it sit overnight. Use the toilet brush the next day to scrub the inside walls and then flush the toilet.

  • Using pumice stone to clean the toilet bowl

Using a pumice stone on the toilet bowl is the second unexpected but effective trick. However, it is necessary to wet both the stone and the surface to be cleaned to avoid scratches.   For greater efficiency, it is possible to pour two tablespoons of baking soda.   This will help you remove dirt deposits more easily.  After scrubbing well with the brush, leave it to act for a few minutes before rinsing. Gently rub any residual stains with circular and delicate movements with the pumice stone and then flush the toilet to rinse.

  • Disinfect the toilet bowl with hydrogen peroxide.

Just like white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide is effective at killing bacteria and germs.  To do this, pour ½ cup of this sanitizing product into the toilet bowl.  Let the product sit for about 30 minutes and then flush the toilets with clean water. Repeating this operation regularly will keep   the toilet bowl   clean and shiny.
