By Lesia

The sofa is what makes all the difference in an interior, and even if you tend to forget about it, it needs maintenance and cleaning to keep it looking clean. If you have spilled liquid or stained your sofa, we have the simple and inexpensive solution for you! Thanks to this trick, you can clean your sofa and it will regain its original appearance.

Every day, a sofa faces stains and dirt, and if it gives a cozy look to your interior, unsightly stains can sometimes be fatal for it. That’s why it’s worth acting quickly, and these natural tricks are perfect for keeping your sofa clean and smelling nice.

What is the trick to clean your sofa?

Before proceeding with cleaning your sofa, first start by using a vacuum cleaner to remove dust. If you have a leather sofa, a wipe with a cloth may be enough, but if you have a fabric sofa, the cloth will have the opposite effect as the dust may spread. Do not neglect its maintenance and prefer the vacuum cleaner   to remove all dust   or food remains.

Once you’ve vacuumed and dusted your sofa, this simple and inexpensive method will keep it clean and pleasantly scented. Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • lime peel
  • Hot water
  • Organic dishwashing liquid
  • Microfiber clothing
  • pan lid

Once you have gathered the ingredients needed to clean your couch, start by heating up some water. Take a bowl and mix together the lime peel, organic dishwashing liquid, and hot water. Mix everything well and soak the microfiber cloth so that it is soaked in the mixture and wring it out. Wrap the cloth around the lid of the pot to clean your couch and any unsightly stains and let it dry thoroughly before sitting down.

What natural products should you use to remove stains from your sofa?

There are some grandma’s tips for cleaning your sofa with natural products. Here’s how to use them to remove tough stains or find a clean sofa.

1) White vinegar to remove stains from the sofa

To clean your fabric sofa,  white vinegar is the ingredient you need   ! To use it, you just need to mix 500 ml of vinegar and 200 ml of warm water. You can also add a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid to make the mixture even more effective. Take a clean cloth with which you will apply the mixture on the sofa, rubbing further on the embedded stains. This mixture will treat the fiber deeply enough for the unsightly stains to disappear. Rinse the mixture with a damp cloth and let it dry for a while before sitting down.

2) Baking soda to clean the sofa

If you prefer to dry clean your sofa, baking soda is the perfect ingredient to remove a stain. To use it, nothing could be simpler: just sprinkle the fabric of your sofa with baking soda and leave it to sit for at least an hour. You can then vacuum as normal. In addition to having an effective absorbent and loosening effect, baking soda also helps to deodorize your sofa. For an even more pleasant scent, you can mix baking soda with a few drops of essential oil of your choice.

3) Black soap to clean the sofa

Black soap is an excellent natural ingredient against stains. All you have to do is dilute a light dose of black soap with warm water and gently rub the stain with a cloth or sponge soaked in the mixture. Rinse with water using another clean cloth and let it dry.

4) Shaving foam to remove stains from the sofa

You might be surprised, but shaving foam is an effective ingredient for removing stains and can also be used to   make a stain remover to clean stains   from clothing. To use it on your sofa, you just need to put a thick layer of shaving foam directly on the fabric. Leave it on for at least an hour and gently rub with a damp sponge to remove the stains. Shaving foam is a good compromise, especially for leather sofas, which don’t risk being damaged.

If you want to properly care for your sofa and restore its original shine, these natural tips are what you need. Don’t forget to act as quickly as possible when you make a stain on your sofa, and avoid eating on it as much as possible at the risk of dirtying it regularly.
