Toilet full of rust and limescale, forget about bleach: you can solve the problem in the kitchen

By Lesia

The toilet is one of the dirtiest things in the house. Cleaning the bathroom is practically a chore, it requires a lot of patience and a lot of time.

Sometimes, even though many harmful, powerful, toxic products that  corrode sanitary ware are used,  the desired result and complete satisfaction are not achieved. This is because persistent dirt, limescale  and rust are impossible to remove.

The secret to preventing rust or limescale is  to clean the toilet daily to prevent the dirt from settling.  This is a problem especially present in large families where the bathroom is always busy and it is difficult to find a time to clean it.  The more the toilet is used,  the less it is cleaned and the more difficult it becomes to clean it to remove the scale and keep it looking like new.

The toilet, how to clean the dirtiest toilet

For obvious reasons, therefore, it is one of the sanitary facilities that must  always be clean and sanitized  , free of germs and bacteria, as well as incrustations that give the impression of a dirty bathroom. To achieve an excellent result, obviously without rushing,  it is necessary to change habits.

First of all, you arm yourself, as usual, with latex or rubber gloves and wash the toilet carefully and thoroughly. After having washed it thoroughly, you move on to applying some  ingredient that we all have in the kitchen cabinet  or in the pantry. This ingredient is fabulous, miraculous, and does not cost much, unlike the products indicated for hygiene and cleaning of the bathroom that do not work as they should.

The miracle ingredient we all have in our pantry

The miracle ingredient is  salt, which is not only very useful in the kitchen  for preparing delicious dishes, but is also capable of disinfecting the toilet completely, eliminating germs and bacteria.

To prepare the miracle solution, mix the salt and baking soda directly into the toilet water and leave it to sit overnight. We prefer the night because it is the only time of day when the toilet is used the least. The  more salt and baking soda left in the toilet water,  the better.

Salt, in particular, removes scale and dirt residue. There is a second foolproof method, which consists of using salt dissolved in hot water, this solution is particularly useful for  cleaning the toilet seat and lid  .

Other natural remedies to clean the bathroom and remove dirt from the toilet

In addition to salt, you can  use many other natural products  that you have at home, such as baking soda, which is able to whiten the inside of the bowl. It is applied every 15 days on  the internal ceramic and on the toilet brush  . Then, it is left to act for hours. Once the allotted time has elapsed, take the brush and rub it firmly against the walls of the toilet. This operation is to remove the encrusted dirt from both the toilet and the brush. After performing the operation, remember to rinse the water.

Baking soda  is also added to lemon juice  , which is unbeatable against yellow stains. Two glasses of baking soda and one of lemon juice are enough, together they create a creamy paste that immediately adheres to the inside walls of the toilet. You have to let a few hours pass, once the inside of the toilet has been rinsed,  the result will be formidable.  Obviously, for the most stubborn encrustations it is necessary to repeat the operation several times. For example, rust hardly disappears and therefore requires more patience and, in some cases, even effort.

Finally, you can try  using a second compound, consisting of baking soda and white vinegar  . Mix them in hot water, which should be boiled in a pot. Wait half an hour and then flush the toilet. There may also be excess foam, in which case rub a little more with the brush and flush the toilet again.

The old Coca Cola remedy

The old remedy involving Coca-Cola never fails. The fizzy drink is effective against  any type of stubborn encrustation  present inside and outside the toilet bowl. It is poured into the bowl and then left to act for several hours.

Finally, the toilet is brushed and flushed. The toilet is clean and shiny, free of germs and bacteria.
