Cupboards and cloths scented with this much-loved ingredient in the kitchen

By Lilias

Having a scented wardrobe and clothes, especially during the winter, can be a bit tricky.

Nothing easier than this to get rid of that hated smell of humidity that later spreads to our clothes.

Scented clothing and cloths

While washing your clothes is the best way to keep them smelling good,  sometimes your closet is the cause of all the bad odors.

Opening the closet doors and being greeted by  a pleasant fragrance or aroma  makes anyone’s day a pleasant one.

lavender bags

Just like with freshly washed sheets or a well-scented room, it’s important to get the same feeling when taking something out of the closet, without it ending up with an  unpleasant musty or moldy smell.

First of all, you need  to keep your wardrobe tidy,  but don’t forget to clean it. If you’re used to cleaning your wardrobes only between seasons, it’s inevitable that your wardrobes and the clothes inside will develop that characteristic musty smell.

Take your time and  clean your closets regularly once a month.  You will notice the difference immediately!

Castile soap has multiple uses for household cleaning and is one of the most indispensable products in any home. Among these is its ability to enhance the fragrance of any fabric or surface.

Start  cleaning the inside of your wardrobes more often  than once at the beginning of each season. Indeed, you should do it at least once a month: the feeling of cleanliness inside the wardrobes does not last for months, but clothes are easily impregnated with the good smell of a clean and fresh drawer.

Regular cleaning is a sure way to freshen up your closets so your clothes always smell good.

Using some products from our pantries helps to keep that clean smell in the cupboards.  They are practical DIY perfumers.

Bowl of raw rice

Rice is wonderful for absorbing odors and humidity in closed spaces. In fact, you can use it to remove odors from your refrigerator! If you want to  try this remedy in the best possible way  , it is advisable to mix a few tablespoons of rice with cotton bags before placing them in the corners of the cupboard  : you will immediately notice a good sensation.

Baking soda for a scented closet and cloths

Baking soda  , like rice, is known for its ability to  absorb bad odors naturally.  Often used in the home and to solve various household cleaning problems, it is  one of the most loved products in the kitchen!

To deodorize your closet, you can prepare an aromatic paste  by mixing baking soda and essential oil  , then place it in the corners of your closet or in bags hung among your clothes.

Deodorize your closet with coffee grounds

Another option is to use coffee grounds, which are absorbent and give off a pleasant aroma, placing them in small bowls in the corners of the cupboard and replacing them every 2 or 3 days.

Citrus scent in the closet

Alternatively,  dried citrus peels can be used.  , which absorb moisture and perfume clothes. To prepare them, you can use oranges or tangerines, letting the peels dry  for a month  , then placing them in canvas or cotton bags with the addition of  cloves  , if desired.

To perfume your wardrobe, simply  place the scented sachets between your clothes  and you will notice a diffused freshness effect. In addition, these bags can also be used in shoe cabinets or shoe racks to absorb any unpleasant odours.

Tea and coarse salt

To create  a homemade moisture absorber  and air freshener, you can use 500 grams of coarse salt, 3 flavored tea bags, and 5 drops of essential oil.

After cutting two squares of plastic from the plastic bag, mix  250 grams of salt  and the contents of one and a half tea bags in each glass jar, add the  drops of the  chosen essential oil and cover the jars with the squares of plastic.

The jars are then  sealed for 3 days before being stored in the cupboard  to obtain a pleasant aroma. This moisture absorber can also be used in other areas of the house, especially in more humid areas  such as the bathroom.
