To sharpen your scissors, sandpaper cannot let you down. And for good reason, it is no coincidence that it is often used to polish wood and metal. The process is simple and quick.

Hold the grain side of the sandpaper facing outwards.
Make several cuts. It is advisable to cut about 20 strips of sandpaper, taking care to cover the entire length of the sheets. Of course, you can cut more if you want your scissors to be sharper.
Then use a clean, damp cloth to wipe the scissors. And voila!
This technique works especially for standard scissors, i.e. those that are not serrated.

On the other hand, sandpaper is an excellent tool for removing limescale from the bathroom glass door. It is therefore a rather practical product to have at home.

If you don’t have sandpaper, aluminum foil can also help sharpen your cutting instrument. To use it:

Get a sheet of aluminum about 20 cm long and then fold it over itself 3 to 4 times. From there, you apply the same principle as with sandpaper.
Cut strips of aluminum foil with the scissors you want to sharpen, the entire length of the blades as in the previous technique.
Then run the scissors under a stream of hot water.
Then use a dry cloth to clean it.
As with the sandpaper method, the aluminum foil method is effective and safe.

It may surprise you at first, but you can sharpen scissors with a glass bottle. Plus, the technique is just as easy to perform as the previous ones.

Start by opening the scissors.
Then place them on the neck of the bottle. Move the blades back and forth around the neck as if you wanted to cut it. This action of rubbing the blades against the glass should do wonders to sharpen the scissors.
Then continue until you feel that the instrument is sharp enough. A method that is therefore improvised but which is no less effective.
To make sure that your scissors are sharp enough, you can test their sharpness by simply cutting plain paper. If not, continue with the improvised method.

Sharpening scissors with a knife sharpener
A pencil sharpener or sharpener remains a more effective tool that not only sharpens scissors but any other sharp metal tool. You will find this tool in DIY stores at a relatively affordable price as well as being easy to use. There are also models on the market that are exclusive for scissors.

You will no longer have to throw away your dull scissors. With these practical methods, you have sharp scissors that will make your life easier!
