Vinegar is one of the most versatile and effective cleaning products, as well as being completely natural and without side effects on our health. Few people know, however, that it is also effective for doing laundry, as it is able to eliminate bad odors and stains .

Vinegar has antibacterial properties and is an excellent disinfectant, so it can be used to remove bacterial stains. It also has very effective whitening properties on light-colored clothing such as towels and underwear.

Being natural, safe and ecological, vinegar is an excellent alternative to chemical laundry products: below we explain how to use it to take advantage of all its wonderful qualities.

  1. Vinegar to wash clothes and eliminate bad odors
If you want to use vinegar to wash your clothes, be sure to dilute it in a little warm water before using it. The combination of vinegar and water has disinfectant and whitening properties. You can add a few drops of lemon or lavender essential oil for even more fragrant wipes.

You can also use vinegar to get rid of bad odors from towels. Pour a glass of vinegar into half a liter of water, add 20 drops of lavender essential oil and soak the towel in it. Finally, rub well and rinse. Alternatively, you can wash the towels directly in the washing machine by adding 2 glasses of vinegar and using hot water.

  1. Vinegar to remove stains from clothes
To remove stains from clothes, apply vinegar directly to the stain and leave it to act for a few minutes. Then, rinse thoroughly with warm water.

To whiten towels or clothes, mix vinegar and hot water in two equal parts. Let the vinegar sit for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water.

  1. Vinegar as a fabric softener
White vinegar is a great substitute for industrial fabric softeners. Using it is super easy and just follow these simple steps.

Mix two equal parts of white vinegar with water. Soak the clothes for a few minutes (at least 20), then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

  1. Protect the colors
Vinegar is very effective in protecting the colors of clothes, especially whites. Mix white vinegar with water in equal parts. Apply the solution to the clothes and let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse.

In the case of whites, simply wash them by adding vinegar to the softener basket.
