How to Grow Garlic at Home to Have an Infinite Supply

So how about being able to easily grow it in your garden without ever having to buy it again? Don’t worry, you’ll see, it’s very simple!

Each bulb that you plant will multiply and give 3 or 4 new cloves of garlic. Watch:

How to do it:

  1. Prepare a pot filled with seedling soil, preferably a pot with drainage.
  2. Choose very fresh heads of garlic.
  3. Separate the cloves, being careful not to damage their base.
  4. Bury each clove, pointing upwards, under a few cm of potting soil.
  5. Separate them by about 10 cm.
  6. Keep the potting soil moist but never soggy because garlic does not need a lot of water.
  7. Let the garlic grow a little, but remember to cut the flowers regularly to keep all the flavor in the bulb.
  8. Once your plant has 5 or 6 leaves that turn yellow and start to die, the garlic is ready to be harvested.
  9. Dry the garlic in a dry and temperate place like a garage, for a week.

And there you have it! You have easily grown garlic at home 🙂 No need to buy any! Easy, right? Know that the best time to plant garlic is early spring or fall.

Garlic needs about 8 to 10 months to grow. Do not throw away the small green stems of garlic. They can be eaten like chives, or to flavor soup or fromage blanc for example.

Once harvested, store the garlic in a cool, dry place.
