How to make sansevieria flower: its scent reaches the whole house

By liliaturcin5

Sansevieria trifasciata (also known as Dracaena trifasciata ) is one of the most widespread and appreciated houseplants, above all due to its extraordinary resistance to any climate or humidity condition.

This plant, in fact, can last for several years in any corner of the house, regardless of the amount of light or water it receives.

The situation changes, however, if you want to make Sansevieria flourish . This plant only blooms in certain conditions, and can really give us a show.

Getting sansevieria to flower is difficult, but certainly not impossible. You just need to try to reproduce the climatic conditions of its natural habitat, and below we will explain how to do it.

Watering

Sansevieria should not be watered daily, as it is prone to rotting. Water little and only when the soil is completely dry.

During the winter, water only a couple of times a month, no more.

Light

The ideal position for a sansevieria plant is near a well-lit window, so that its leaves can develop healthy and strong and have a very green color.

Sansevieria growth is slow and will only produce 3 or 4 leaves per year. If the leaves bend it is a sign that the plant needs more light.

Pruning

Never cut the tips of the leaves. Sansevieria does not need pruning. Remove only dry leaves to prevent them from developing diseases.

Fertilizer

Apply a little fertilizer in late spring and early summer, once a month, until autumn arrives.

Use a flower fertilizer, rich in the nutrients needed to make the sansevieria flower. This plant blooms in late summer and will produce flowers that smell like vanilla.

Sansevieria is not only a wonderful plant for decorating, but it is also useful for purifying the air in your home and, if you can make it flower, it can perfume the whole house.
