The most effective trick to keep mosquitoes away from the balcony

By liliaturcin5

Who doesn’t like spending evenings on the balcony in good weather? Maybe, if spacious enough, even set up a table and eat. To ruin these very pleasant plans there are always them, the omnipresent and annoying mosquitoes .

There are many methods to keep mosquitoes away , from repellents applied to the skin to chemical sprays, even electronic devices. Few people know, however, that to say goodbye to mosquitoes forever, just one natural ingredient is enough: coffee .

The aroma of coffee, in fact, is unbearable for some insects, including mosquitoes, who will therefore stay away from it. Below we explain various ways to use coffee to ward off mosquitoes .

Coffee-based spray

Prepare the coffee as you normally do and mix it with an equal part of water. To increase the effect, also add a little vinegar.

Pour everything into a bottle equipped with a spray diffuser and spray the solution in the corners of the balcony, terrace or windows. This remedy will create an invisible barrier that will prevent mosquitoes from arriving.

Coffee grounds

Save the coffee grounds and let them dry well. Then place them in a saucer covered with foil and, using a lighter or a match, light the coffee on fire, being very careful not to burn yourself.

Carry out the operation in a safe place to avoid possible accidents.

Obviously, the coffee will not generate a flame, but a lot of smoke and it will be the latter that will keep the mosquitoes away.

In stagnant water

Mosquitoes breed in areas where there is stagnant water, such as the saucers of our plants.

Place coffee grounds in places where there is standing water to give mosquito larvae less chance to develop. Furthermore, mosquito eggs are attracted to the surface of the water and deprived of oxygen by the coffee grounds, so they will die.

On the plant soil

Sprinkle the coffee grounds on the surface of the plant soil. In addition to having a fertilizing action, it will protect the plants from ants and other insects.

The coffee grounds will also help keep mosquitoes away.
