Never Use Ginger If You Have Any of These Conditions

By liliaturcin5

Anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antiemetic, good for digestion, against colds, pain… ginger has so many health benefits that it is very difficult for us to perceive it as a dangerous product! And yet, this is indeed the case. Consumed in excess, it can be harmful to some people.

1 – COAGULATION PROBLEMS

  • Indeed, ginger has natural anticoagulant properties, inhibiting blood clotting. If you already have clotting problems, ginger can amplify the problem and worsen this blood disorder.
  • Possible consequences: from small bleeding to more serious hemorrhages.
  • People suffering from clotting problems should seek the advice of their doctor before consuming ginger.

2 – PEOPLE WITH DIABETES

  • According to different scientific studies, ginger is able to reduce blood sugar levels and improve insulin resistance. It is therefore very beneficial for diabetic people.
  • But if taking medications to treat this condition, ginger may interfere with the treatment due to its hypoglycemic effect. It is therefore important to consult your doctor before consuming ginger.

3 – MEDICATION AGAINST ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION

  • Ginger can  lower blood pressure like certain medications. Combining it with your treatment is therefore not recommended.

4 – UNDERWEIGHT PEOPLE

  • Known for its slimming properties, ginger is not recommended for underweight people. Indeed, after ingestion, ginger activates thermogenesis, that is to say, it increases body temperature.
  • The latter attempts to regulate it by drawing on its fat reserves, to use them as a source of energy.
  • Ginger is also known for its ability to improve digestion, increase feelings of fullness and reduce appetite.

5 – THE CASE OF PREGNANT WOMEN

  • Many women take ginger to soothe nausea caused by pregnancy; it is in fact one of the most effective remedies against the urge to vomit. You should be careful and stick to dietary dosages, because in high doses, ginger can cause uterine contractions.
  • Additionally, it could potentially interfere with the absorption of dietary iron and fat-soluble vitamins.
  • It is strongly recommended not to consume ginger infusion in the last weeks of pregnancy due to the risk of bleeding.
  • Pregnant women should consult their gynecologist before consuming ginger.
