How to Clean White Converse Shoes?

By liliaturcin5

We like white sneakers because they are versatile, comfortable and youthful but, unfortunately, from the first outings they lose their whiteness. We advise you how to clean white Converses so that they always look new and your outfit always impeccable!

Have you been surprised by the rain and your shoes are rather gray or brown? Here are our tips for cleaning white Converse.

1 – CLEANING IN THE WASHING MACHINE

If your sneakers are too dirty or full of dirt for example (who hasn’t experienced this after a party or a festival?), you can always count on this good old washing machine!

  • Remove the laces, store them in a small net and place them with your sneakers in the machine. If you can remove the insole from your tennis shoes, I recommend that too.
  • To avoid damaging the drum, wrap your sneakers in an old pillowcase, your bath mat, your mop… in short, anything that will prevent them from flying everywhere.
  • Choose the least aggressive and shortest cycle of your washing machine: be careful, too hot water damages the glue! Better to use lukewarm water.
  • Let them air dry with newspaper. And that’s the job!

2 – CLEAN YOUR WHITE SHOES WITH BAKING SODA

Ingredients

  • Baking soda
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • A glass
  • Water
  • Detergent
  • From a toothbrush
  • From a towel

Instructions

  1. In a glass of water, add equal parts detergent and baking soda. Mix the preparation with the damp toothbrush.
  2. Then, apply it to the dirty parts of your shoes using circular movements. You can use this preparation based on baking soda and detergent on fabric but also on the soles of your white shoes.
  3. Leave for a few minutes, then remove excess foam using a damp towel. Finally, let your white shoes dry. You will see: after this cleaning session, your shoes will be clean and like new!

3 – CLEAN YOUR WHITE SHOES WITH TOOTHPASTE

  • Run an old toothbrush soaked in white toothpaste over the shoes.
  • Rinse using a sponge.
  • Leave away from any source of heat and direct sunlight.

4 – USE LEMON

Cut a lemon in half and apply the lemon directly to the scuff marks on the shoes. Rub vigorously to remove marks.

  • Lemon juice is commonly used as a natural alternative to bleach.
  • Leave the lemon juice on for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
  • IF you don’t have a whole lemon, you can also use lemon juice on a toothbrush or cloth to scrub the stain.
