6 Simple Ways to Get Rid of Insects in the House

By liliaturcin5

All year round, heat, humidity, dust and food attract all kinds of insects to our homes. Result: these little creatures prevent us from sleeping , invade our gardens and balcony planters, or feed in our kitchen cupboards!

Insects are not welcome in your home, but you don’t want to use unpleasant and toxic pesticides to repel them? You are right, because chemicals are very harmful and can damage your health and that of your family.

What’s more annoying than a fly that repeatedly lands on us or buzzes near our ears? However, we know that using an insecticide bomb to get rid of them also puts us in danger: so, let’s discover some tips and natural ways to keep flies away.

1 – CREATE A REPELLENT SPRAY WITH EUCALYPTUS

  • Here is a repellent recipe that will allow you to chase away midges from your kitchen while having a good smell in the house! In 5 liters of water, place 150g of fresh eucalyptus leaves. Boil everything for 15 minutes, before letting the mixture sit to cool.
  • Once the mixture has cooled, filter the decoction and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray this solution several times a day to eliminate midges. Eucalyptus is in fact one of the plants that naturally repel midges.

2 – THE ESSENTIAL WHITE VINEGAR

  • If you don’t catch flies with vinegar, you can still scare them away by heating vinegar for a few minutes in a closed room, morning and evening.
  • Another tip to keep these insects away is to wash the windows with white vinegar diluted in water or to place small dishes in front of the windows with a little vinegar and a few cloves. The only downside, the smell can be bothersome to humans too!

3 – GARLIC

  • Do you know what a fly and a vampire have in common? They both hate garlic. That’s good, because you’re going to take out a few cloves of garlic, peel them and put them to boil, filter the water and place your magic anti-fly potion on the windowsills. Garlic is a great natural remedy for flies. They won’t dare come home to you anymore!

4 – THE USE OF CIDER VINEGAR

  • To catch midges, make a preparation with a few drops of dishwashing liquid and a bowl of cider vinegar. Place this bowl in the middle of your kitchen so the smell of the solution attracts gnats. Replace this mixture every day.

5 – A CURRENT OF AIR

  • To chase away flies, blow them away with the wind. Open the windows wide. It’s an easy and ecological solution, which only works if you only have a few flies coming to bother you. The idea is to create air currents to make them go away. You can also think about installing a VMC to ventilate your home and get rid of flies.

6 – CINNAMON

  • Experts recommend using cinnamon to protect your home from insects. You can sprinkle cinnamon in the form of a line in the entrance of the house to repel insects.
