8 Grandmothers’ Tips That People Don’t Know About

By liliaturcin5

In the kitchen, grandmas ensure… Not only are their little dishes always delicious, but they also know a whole bunch of tips and tricks that make life easier when you’re in the kitchen.

Here are 8 tips from grandmas that are simply essential!

1 – KNOW IF THE EGG IS FRESH

There are two ways to check if eggs are fresh or not. Take a container filled with water, immerse them in it. Those that are not fresh will float to the surface. Or shake the egg, if you hear a little noise inside, know that the egg is spoiled.

2 – PREVENT POTATOES FROM GERMINING

To keep potatoes for as long as possible, in addition to storing them in a shady, dry place, you must slip an apple into your potato bag. The latter will not only prevent them from germinating, but will also keep them firm for longer. Awesome !

3 – USE BUTTER THAT IS TOO COLD

Many baking recipes call for mixing soft butter with other solid ingredients. Yes but… if our butter was stored in the coldest part of the fridge, and it is as hard as a rock, what should we do? Definitely don’t put it in the microwave, that will melt it! The good tip is to take our cheese grater and grate it delicately. It will easily incorporate the other ingredients, and can be mixed without any problem!

4 – FRESH FRUITS FOR LONGER

Are your fruits wilting too quickly? A simple little trick will help slow down this process. In your basket or fruit basket, place a cork that you will first cut in half. This way, the fruits will ripen less quickly.

5 – PEELE GARLIC EASILY

Did you know ? One jar is enough for you to peel the garlic cloves. Place them inside the jar, close and shake with all your might. Thus, they are stripped of their skin. The garlic cloves will be ready to use.

6 – REMOVE FRYING ODORS

In a saucepan with water, put cloves and boil.

7 – PRESERVE AROMATIC HERBS

We always need fresh aromatic herbs in the kitchen. Unfortunately, they don’t keep very long, whether in a cool place or in a cupboard. But by cutting them and putting them in an ice cube tray with a drizzle of olive oil on top, we can considerably extend their life expectancy!

8 – KEEP COOKIES VERY CRISPY

When you open a box of cookies and don’t finish them quickly, they quickly become soft and no longer appetizing. Well, unless you remember to place them in a metal box, where they will stay fresh as the first day. That’s why there were always some at our grandmas’ houses!
