This is why it is important to pour vinegar into the washing machine once a month

By liliaturcin5

It may be known by some and unknown by others and yet it can provide more than one service in many respects: it is vinegar and more particularly white vinegar. This natural product has become a maintenance essential by being formidable for cleaning everything. Among its countless virtues, there is that of cleaning linen. And while it might seem strange to add it to the washing ritual, it turns out it produces great results. Here are the reasons…

1 – USING WHITE VINEGAR TO FIX COLORS

Using white vinegar before the first wash of your bed linen ensures that you preserve its beautiful dark color. It will maintain its beautiful original appearance for a long time. Here is our tip:

  • Soak your new satin duvet cover or your newly purchased cotton sheet set, for example, in cold water to which you have added a little white vinegar.
  • Leave to act overnight.
  • Machine wash with a little detergent to remove any odors.

2 – THIS IS GRANDMOTHER’S FAVORITE TIP FOR SOFTENING LAUNDRY

Alcohol vinegar is a very powerful descaling product. Like commercial detergents with a softening effect, it will help counterbalance the effects of traces of limescale in the washing water. This helps soften the laundry and makes your laundry more eco-friendly. To do this, simply add 250 ml to the softener tank or the rinse tank and you will never have problems with rough laundry again. Additionally, fabric softener affects the absorbency of towels. You won’t have this problem with vinegar!

3 – REVIVE THE WHITE

Do you know why white clothes lose their shine and end up turning gray? These are tiny residues of detergents left in the machine or traces of dirt present in the water which are deposited little by little on the laundry.

For regular use, plan to add between 250 and 350 ml of white vinegar to your cycle depending on the quantity of laundry.

For a shock effect and regain the original shine of your old clothes, choose 500 ml of white vinegar diluted in 1.5 liters of water. Leave them to soak overnight then run your usual program.

Like baking soda, white vinegar makes your clothes white as new.

4 – REMOVE Stubborn STAINS

Yellow stains or soap residue can be removed using white vinegar. For this purpose, this natural product has more than one trick up its sleeve. Soak your clothes in a vinegar water bath containing 1.5 liters of water and 500 ml of white vinegar for 30 minutes, then wash as usual. You can also leave your laundry soaked in this solution overnight for greater effectiveness. Furthermore, for older stains, you can spray white vinegar on the affected area and blot it with a clean cloth. Once the stain is reduced, opt for a classic machine wash.

5 – DEODORIZE

What if we tell you: sports clothes, socks, sheets “stuck” in the wardrobe for a long time? At first glance, it doesn’t smell very good… Breathing them in, there’s no doubt! Not to mention the nests of microbes that can form due to humidity. Have a little glass of white vinegar when washing and let’s breathe! The quantity will depend on that of your laundry but not less than 250 ml and not more than 500 ml to combine with your laundry!

With these proportions, you will also benefit from the  disinfectant properties of white vinegar. Because this is another good news: it can eliminate certain bacteria. This can also be used for tea towels, napkins, washcloths, etc.
