8 Solutions to Finally Say Goodbye to Blackheads

By liliaturcin5

Blackheads, also called comedones, are an accumulation of sebum in the pores of the skin. This accumulation ends up oxidizing on contact with air and turns black. Both men and women can be affected, at any age. How to remove blackheads with simple methods and prevent them from coming back? Here are our tips.

What is a blackhead?

Blackheads, also called comedones, occur when skin pores become clogged with excess oil and dead skin cells, preventing them from closing.

On contact with air, sebum oxidizes and turns black, hence the appearance of blackheads. So, contrary to popular belief, it is not dirt.

Blackheads are mainly found in the regions where the sebaceous glands, which produce sebum, are located. In people with combination skin, blackheads often appear in the famous T-zone of the face which includes the forehead, nose and chin. Blackheads can also appear on the chest, back and shoulders.

1 – CUCUMBER MOISTURIZER

We all have in mind the image of cucumber slices placed all over the face. This is not at all incongruous, because cucumber hydrates the skin like no other vegetable. But rather than applying slices that don’t stay in place, it is more judicious to mix the pulp to extract the juice. Then soak a cotton pad in it, and pass it over your face to clean it.

2 – LEMON JUICE

Another solution: lemon! Lemon juice directly applied to the face in the evening before bed helps in removing blackheads. Nothing could be simpler, in short.

3 – BAKING SODA

Baking soda can be used in small doses on the epidermis. It gently exfoliates the skin. To remove blackheads, mix a little baking soda with plain water or lemon juice and apply the paste to the T-zone. Leave for about fifteen minutes and rinse well.

4 – AND THEN TO THE POTATO!

Use untreated potatoes. Apply rounds to the skin and massage a little to eliminate excess sebum.

5 – USE WARMED HONEY

Honey has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, making it a good choice for blackheads caused by acne. It is also very sticky, which helps it bind to blackheads and remove them. Heat some honey in a saucepan or put a jar of honey in hot water. When the honey is warm to the touch without risking burning, apply it to your blackheads and let dry for about 10 minutes.

  • Wash your face with a clean towel.
  • You can also leave this treatment on overnight, but make sure the honey has dried before you go to bed or you’ll wake up with your face glued to your pillow!

6 – TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL

Experts assure that you can apply tea tree oil directly on the surfaces affected by blackheads like the chin and nose. This helps in particular to kill bacteria. Tea tree essential oil is found in many products, such as soaps and creams.

7 – CLAY

There are many natural clay-based masks, which are among the most effective in removing annoying blackheads. Clay is exfoliating and helps remove skin impurities and dead cells.

8 – CORN STARCH AND VINEGAR

Get a tablespoon of cornstarch and mix with the vinegar until the mixture forms a thick paste. Apply to the affected area of blackheads and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water then follow with cold water or an ice cube to close the pores.

Cornstarch absorbs excess oil, while vinegar helps fade discoloration caused by blackheads. For the best results, use this two to three times a week.
