Dishwasher Soap Cube with Borax Base

It’s crazy how expensive they can be. Additionally, dishwasher tablets are generally not recommended for the environment. So here I offer you a simple and very economical version, which will do the job!

Materials

  • Washing soda (removes grease stains) – 1 cup
  • Borax (cleaning agent) – 1 cup
  • Epsom Salt (removes hard water stains) – ¼ cup
  • White vinegar (air freshener) – ¼ cup
  • Lemongrass essential oil (antibacterial, pleasant scent) – 8 to 10 drops
  • Food coloring – 3 or 4 drops (optional)

Instruction

  1. Mix the three dry ingredients
  2. Put 1 cup of club soda in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add 1 cup of borax and ¼ cup of Epsom salt.
  4. Add vinegar, essential oil and food coloring
  5. Add ¼ cup of white vinegar to the dry ingredients.
  6. Add 8 to 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil.
  7. Optionally, you can also add 3 or 4 drops of food coloring.
  8. Mix and transfer the paste to an ice cube tray.
  9. Mix the ingredients thoroughly to obtain a uniform mixture.
  10. Fill an ice cube tray with the mixture. Press the mixture with your fingers to pack it firmly into each slot in the tray.
  11. Let it sit for at least 24 hours in a dry, sunny space.
  12. Store the cubes in an airtight container and use 1 per load
  13. Carefully remove the cubes from the tray.
  14. Store the dishwasher safe cubes in an airtight jar.
  15. Use 1 cube for each load of dishes.
