How to avoid mold in jam?

By liliaturcin5

Jams are one of the ingredients that keep for a long time since there is as much sugar as there is fruit. However, it happens that they go moldy after a certain time, when you forget them in the fridge. A rather simple tip will allow you to remedy this. We’ll explain how to do it.

Ingredients

Simply fine powdered sugar and a small spoon to spread.

Instructions

  1. Take your jar of jam and (if it’s moldy) remove the stale layer. The jam keeps very well, the part under the mold remains good.
  2. Then, sprinkle your jam with a light layer of sugar. The sugar should keep the jam longer and prevent mold from setting in.
  3. Note: If you know that you will not eat jam often, do not hesitate to add a layer of sugar after each use.

In addition, this tip only concerns pots that have already been started. In fact, those that are hermetically closed will degrade much less quickly because they will not have been in contact with oxygen and the air that surrounds us.
