3 Tips for Getting Rid of Rats at Home

By liliaturcin5

Rats can cause  significant damage  when they enter the house, because they gnaw partitions, electrical wires and even boxes. In addition, they often carry diseases. To scare them away, there are different natural solutions.

1 – COCA-COLA, AN EFFECTIVE RAT TRAP

Coca-Cola is, as its name suggests, a drink made from  Cola , as well as various substances not particularly good for health.

But  the rat loves Cola  ! Unfortunately for him, these substances will make him “sick” and obese, which will lead to his downfall because he cannot eliminate the gas he ingests.

How to do ?

  • Leave a bowl of Coke lying around so that it is easily accessible to rats.
  • If all goes well, you should find it diminished the next day. Do not hesitate to repeat the operation several times.
  • This technique has the advantage of not  being expensive and being effective  since it eliminates rats.
  • The other advantage of this method is that you will not find rats in your kitchen in the morning…

2 – PETS TO HUNTER RODENTS

And yes, certain pets, such as cats or birds of prey (owls), are excellent allies in keeping rodent-type pests away. They are their natural predators and will easily chase them out of the house. Obviously, this means that some little mice risk perishing under their fangs, it’s up to you to choose.

3 – ESSENTIAL OILS TO FIGHT AGAINST RODENTS

  • Essential oils have many benefits and uses, such as repelling clothes or food moths. They also work against rodents.
  • The latter are sensitive to certain plant odors. Mint, sage and bay leaves are excellent repellents. You can use them in their natural form, or as essential oil.
  • In their natural form, we advise you to place the leaves in strategic places in the house, to dislodge them without killing them. That is to say places of passage, dark corners, or, if possible, directly in their nest. The leaves must be renewed regularly for greater efficiency.
  • If you opt for essential oils , use a diffuser with the following liquids: peppermint, clary sage, bay leaf, garlic, lavandin or eucalyptus. Or a small cotton pad soaked in essential oil, placed again, in strategic places in the house.
