The ultimate method to clean your oven with vinegar and baking soda and make it look like new

By liliaturcin5

The oven is one of the appliances most likely to get dirty. Remains of the food we cook inside accumulate inside it and which in the long run become really difficult to remove.

Cleaning the oven properly is not just an “aesthetic” issue. Pathogenic microorganisms can develop in the oven, and a very dirty oven also becomes dangerous.

There are numerous products designed specifically for cleaning the oven. Almost all of them, however, contain chemical compounds that can put our health at risk. Below we suggest how to clean the oven with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar .

You need: water, baking soda, vinegar, a spray bottle, a cloth and gloves.

Clean the inside of the oven

  1. Remove racks from oven.
  2. Mix 120 grams of bicarbonate well with a little water. Add the water little by little, until you obtain an almost creamy solution to apply to the oven surfaces. Use gloves to protect your hands.
  3. Apply the solution especially to the dirtiest areas of the oven. The baking soda will take on a darker color once it comes into contact with dirt.
  4. Let it rest overnight. Bicarbonate needs about 12 hours to take effect.
  5. The next day, clean the oven with a damp cloth, trying to remove as much baking soda as possible.
  6. Pour the vinegar into the spray bottle and spray it on the oven surfaces. A kind of foam will form.
  7. Remove the foam with the damp cloth, and repeat the application of vinegar if necessary.
  8. Turn the oven on at low temperature for 15-20 minutes to dry it well.

Clean the oven window

  1. Apply the baking soda and water solution to the inside of the oven window.
  2. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  3. Remove with a damp cloth, then clean the window well with another clean cloth.
