Ingredient to prepare a liquid detergent

Recipe: How to make 2 liters of cheap homemade laundry detergent?

To make your own economical, stain-resistant liquid laundry detergent, you will need:

  • 60 g of Marseille soap flakes (0.4 euros)
  • 15 g of sodium percarbonate (0.15 euros)
  • 30 g of bicarbonate (0.10 euros)
  • A few drops of essential oil of your choice (5 cts)
  • 1 liter of hot water
  • 1 liter of cold water
  • Heat a liter of water before adding the Marseille soap flakes to dissolve them.
  • Stir the soap chips to dilute them well. When you turn off the heat, pour in the soda pecarbonate, then blend with a blender to make the preparation homogeneous.
  • Then let your liquid detergent cool and sit for 24 hours. (The laundry will become compacted, this is normal).
  • Then add 1 liter of cold water and mix again until you obtain a homogeneous and smooth liquid mixture.
  • Then pour your detergent into a glass jar and add a few drops of an essential oil of your choice, to perfume your laundry. You can use lavender, tea tree or lemon essential oil for example.

This gives you a liquid detergent with stain-removing, disinfecting and whitening properties. Bicarbonate, in fact, is a biodegradable natural product,   very useful for taking care of your laundry. It has the particularity of brightening the white of clothes, and softening linen,   as well as eliminating stubborn stains   and unpleasant odors. You can also use this white powder to clean and disinfect your washing machine. Soda crystals are also very useful for laundry. They allow you to clean it thoroughly,   as well as reducing limescale deposits in your washing machine. As for sodium percarbonate, it is also highly appreciated in the maintenance of linen, for its disinfectant and stain-resistant action. It thus allows you to clean the linen   and disinfect it delicately.  This natural product also has whitening properties. Furthermore, Marseille soap is a biodegradable and hypoallergenic product,   very effective against stains. You can use it to gently clean your laundry, without risk of allergy.

What are other natural and economical products to replace chemical detergent?

To wash your laundry and remove it, you can use several natural products such as white vinegar. This natural stain remover is effective   in eliminating stains,   bad odors and limescale deposits  that clog the washing machine.  White vinegar is also a natural fabric softener, which also helps   set laundry colors  . To do this, simply add half a glass of white vinegar to the compartment of your appliance. You can also clean your laundry   using black soap. This natural soap is effective in degreasing and cleaning clothes,   as long as they are dark in color. In fact, because of its color, black soap can slightly dye light-colored clothes. Better to use it to clean dark colored clothes. That said, for 5 kg of detergent, pour 4 tablespoons of liquid black soap into the compartment dedicated to laundry detergent.

You can also make a homemade cleaner made from wood ash. The latter is rich in potash which is a surfactant, effective in deeply cleaning linen   and eliminating stubborn stains. To do this, sift 2 glasses of powdered ash and pour them into a basin, then add a liter of water. Be careful   not to inhale released particles. You can protect yourself with a mask if possible or ventilate the room. Mix the mixture well and let it rest for at least 24 hours. Then filter your preparation using a fine cloth and transfer your liquid detergent into a bottle using a funnel. Shake the bottle before using the detergent.
