Tomatoes, with this tip increases the yield of your plants by 30%

By liliaturcin5

Follow this tip for tomato plants and you will see that you will have a yield of up to 30% more. You wouldn’t expect it, but it’s super simple.

Lush tomato plant

Around May/June, we start by sowing tomatoes . There are many varieties to choose from. There are round tomatoes on bunches or datterini tomatoes. Or even Cuori di bue tomatoes, San Marzano tomatoes, Costoluti tomatoes, Piennolo tomatoes and many other types. We can’t apply the trick we’re going to tell them all.

This tip is actually intended for tomato plants that grow vertically near the reeds that you are going to place in the ground . There is a very specific reason and it concerns the femminella. The latter is nothing more than this shoot that we usually remove when going to do garnishing and trimming work to give birth to other tomatoes.

The trick we are going to show you is to make the crop grow 30% more and can be applied to plants with indeterminate growth . This means nothing more than that the plant will develop and bear fruit until the first cold weather arrives. Below in the next paragraph we see the details of this trick that you can do in your garden.

Tomatoes: Use This Trick to Increase the Harvest

This tip to make plants grow faster is to not put fertilizer in the plants. The plant itself and its branches are exploited . In particular, we are going to touch femminella, or the part of the plant that we have already mentioned previously.

As we said, this trick can only be exploited on large, indeterminate growing tomato plants (remember). In practice, instead of removing the  females  and therefore reducing yields  , we ensure that they grow and transform into a new stem with lots of leaves, flowers and fruits .

These axillary shoots then if they are not cut, they turn into a new stem. As a result, the harvest will be higher, but since there is a new stem, the plant will need more nutrients . The plant, although it will have more fruit, will not grow much but will remain smaller. In any case, it is not recommended to keep all females on the plant.

Only some may remain, but the rest will still need to be removed. A plant overgrown with leaves will perform better because there will also be less air circulation. Additionally, the plant becomes unstable with too many females . So don’t go overboard in keeping these shoots, in short we can say keep them right so as not to damage the plant.

Fertilizer for tomato plants

If you also want to use fertilizer for your tomato plants, we recommend natural fertilizers that you  can prepare and use. Here they are:

Fertilizer for this plant
  • Manure : this is the best organic fertilizer that can be used in the cultivation of this plant. However, it must come from non-industrial operations.
  • Ash  : wood ash contains many minerals useful to the plant.
  • Liquid solution : In a bottle of lukewarm water, pour a glass of unsweetened coffee. You can use this solution simply like this or enrich it with vegetable cooking water.

These are a few  examples, but the best fertilizers for tomatoes are those rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium .
