How to use lemon seeds

Lemons are  citrus fruits that  are highly valued for their unique flavor and versatility in both cooking and household chores.  They are a valuable source of vitamin C and,  due to their natural acidity, are also good for digestion and help reduce the feeling of bloating. They are widespread in the Mediterranean and have their origins in the Asian countries from which they were imported thanks to trade.

Widely used in the kitchen, for seasoning dishes, making sauces, but also for desserts, for which the peel is usually used. Not only the seeds of  lemons, but also the peels are among the ingredients that are always present in households  . And if we normally use the juice, pulp and peel of lemons,  why should we throw away the seeds  ? Here are some ways to make the most of them.

Lemons

Once you have used up the lemon,  set the seeds aside and rinse them  carefully with room temperature water through a sieve. Then place them on a paper towel and dry them well. Then equip yourself with tweezers and start “peeling” the seeds and removing the skin that covers them.

Then take a small container like a yogurt jar and fill it with damp cotton.  Place the seed in the cotton and let it rest for at least a week  . After about 7 days the seed has become a small sprout.

Continue to maintain the cotton and moist environment so that your little sprout can continue to grow until it develops small roots. At this point you will have to  plant your seeds in a small pot in which you will have to add a mixture of soil and perlite  to ensure that the soil is well drained. Even after planting, the sprout still needs care. It should be kept in a well-lit, warm, but protected from drafts place. Make sure the soil is always moist and wait for nature to take its course to develop a lemon plant that, once grown, will produce juicy fruits.

Make a perfumer

Lemon seeds are used for more than just growing new plants. Among other things,  it is possible to create a perfumer for drawers and wardrobes  . In the first procedure, the seeds must always be rinsed, but without removing the shell. Despite washing, citrus seeds retain their natural scent for a long time.

You can  then put them in a small canvas bag  and use them to perfume drawers, closets or areas of the house such as the bathroom. When attached to the radiator in winter, they give off a delicious lemon scent. All you have to do is try to find the best way to use the seeds of a citrus fruit with many properties.
