Yellowed kit: 3 tricks to make it look like new again

By liliaturcin5

As time passes, it is normal for the items in the kit to tend to yellow . Often it is not enough to wash them normally to return them to their original appearance, risking, among other things, ruining them forever.

Fabrics turn yellow due to their natural chemical degradation. When they begin to decompose, they take on a yellowish color which can be prevented and eliminated by taking the right care.

Many times, the pure white kit is stored and left untouched for years, which could initiate chemical degradation and subsequent yellowing.

To whiten clothes , bleach is usually used. However, this product could seriously damage the fibers of the fabric and, if not used correctly, cause yellow stains itself.

Below we suggest some tricks to whiten a yellowed kit and bring it back to its original splendor.

Sodium percarbonate and lemon

Mix two tablespoons of sodium percarbonate with 250 ml of lemon juice, and dilute in a liter of hot water.

Leave the white kit to soak for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finally, wash the garment as normal, adding 2 tablespoons of sodium percarbonate along with the detergent.

Hydrogen peroxide

This excellent product is very effective for whitening clothes and eliminating yellowish stains.

Pour 150 ml of hydrogen peroxide into the detergent drawer of your washing machine and run a normal cycle. You can also pre-treat the stain by applying hydrogen peroxide directly to it.

Sodium bicarbonate

This excellent product, widely used in household cleaning, is an additional weapon against yellowing kit.

In addition to being harmless to sheets, bicarbonate eliminates the dirt accumulated between the fibers of the fabrics, leaving very clean and very white garments.

Add 100 grams of baking soda to the detergent container of your washing machine, and run a normal wash cycle.

Now that you know how to whiten your yellowed kit, try applying one of these tricks to make it look like new again.
