By Lilia

๐Ÿ˜Necessary Materials

  • 1 bowl or container
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Sugar
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Some water

๐Ÿ˜ Instructions

๐Ÿ˜ 1. Prepare the Trap

  1. Choose a Bowl: Use a shallow bowl or container.
  2. Add Apple Cider Vinegar: Pour about 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar into the bowl. Vinegar attracts flies because of its sweet, fermented smell.
  3. Add Sugar: Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of sugar to increase the attractiveness of the liquid to flies.
  4. Add Dishwashing Liquid: Add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the bowl. Dishwashing liquid breaks the surface tension of the liquid, preventing flies from floating and causing them to drown.
  5. Add Water: Top up with water, filling the bowl about three-quarters full.

๐Ÿ˜ 2. Place the Trap

  1. Choose the Location: Place the bowl in the areas where you have observed the most flies. This could be near fruit, trash cans or in the kitchen.
  2. Let the Trap Work: Leave the trap in place and check it regularly. You should see flies trapped in the bowl after a few hours.

๐Ÿ˜3. Empty and Reload the Trap

  1. Eliminate Flies: Once the bowl is full of flies, empty the contents, clean the bowl and prepare a new solution to continue catching flies.

Additional Tips

  • Use Plastic Wrap: You can also cover the bowl with plastic wrap, making a few holes large enough for flies to get in, but hard to find to get out.
  • Change Regularly: Change the solution every few days to maintain its effectiveness.

This homemade fly trap is simple to make and uses common ingredients found in almost every kitchen. It is effective in reducing the fly population in a natural and non-toxic way.
