  2. Sprout the chayote: Leave the fruit in a warm, dry place for one to two weeks until shoots emerge.
  3. Prepare the planting site: Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
  4. Prepare the soil: Enrich the soil with organic compost or manure for fertility and moisture.
  5. Plant the chayote: Dig a hole, place the sprouted fruit horizontally with the shoots facing up and cover it with soil.
  6. Provide support (optional): Use a trellis for climbing vines to keep them off the ground.
  7. Watering: Keep the soil moist but not soggy, especially during dry periods.
  8. Fertilize: Apply a balanced fertilizer or compost every few months for healthy growth.
