3 mistakes when cleaning your dog’s urine that multiply the bad smell

By Lilia

Having pets at home can be very comforting, as these little ones full of love fill the whole house with happiness, but there is a problem and that is when we have to clean up the urine.

In fact, you have to deal with dogs when they urinate on the couch, on the carpets or in any corner of the house. We are usually prepared for these inconveniences by having some cleaner or disinfectant on hand.

However, it often happens that we use a product that actually increases the bad smell. Therefore, below we will see the  3 mistakes we make when cleaning urine:

Although it may seem impossible, the reality is that we make mistakes when cleaning up our pets’ urine, thus worsening the bad smell inside the home.

Let’s see how to avoid it:

Cleaning urine on fabric surfaces

When dogs urinate on carpets, it is actually more difficult to solve the problem, but we can do a lot.

  1.  When we notice that our pet has urinated on the carpet, we should immediately put enough kitchen paper over the urine moisture and let it absorb as much moisture as possible.
  2. Then, we proceed to sprinkle plenty of baking soda and let it sit overnight.
  3. Finally, the entire affected area is aspirated.

Using floor deodorant

Although floor deodorizers are very concentrated, most only spray a little bit of urine on you, which is a common mistake.

To make our cleaning more effective, we prepare it as follows:

  1. In a small container, place half vinegar and half warm water, mix a little and apply to the area affected by urine. Leave it to act for approximately 15 minutes.
  2. Finally, we use a dry cloth to dry the wet area and with the same cloth we apply the deodorant diluted with a little water, leaving this pleasant aroma as the last step.

Using chemicals at the wrong time

A clear example of doubling bad odors is similar to when we clean the patio of our house with a product containing ammonia, perhaps we leave it for a long time and then the results are adverse with an intolerable aroma.

  1. We start by simply sprinkling soap powder over the entire floor and especially the area affected by urine, then adding a little water and a splash of bleach, it is very effective.
  2. Next step, we brush vigorously with a brush and rinse with plenty of water to remove all dirt.
  3. If we don’t want to have to do this job so often in the yard, it is best to avoid having all our pet’s waste piled up. Particularly in the summer, we should make sure that the bad smell left by dogs doesn’t get duplicated.

Let’s follow all these simple recommendations and the results will be favorable for us and our pets!
