A teaspoon of sugar is the same miracle as an antibiotic for an orchid: my abandoned plant blooms profusely!
Here is a Spanish version of the article:
If you’ve repotted an orchid and it’s not thriving, you’ve accidentally damaged it, or it’s just gone too long without blooming, try this trick – so far, it hasn’t disappointed me.
I don’t even apply special fertilizers to orchids.
For me, sugar is without a doubt the greatest miracle for this plant. A lady once told me that sugar for an orchid is like an antibiotic for a person.
Use it correctly and your orchid will be revitalized.
What is sugar used for?
- For wilted plants,
- For those that you have accidentally damaged while handling them,
- For those that have not bloomed in a long time,
- For older plants that lack energy.
How to do it? I used this treatment on my sister’s orchid, which was about to be discarded.
I dissolved 1 teaspoon of sugar in a liter of water and immersed the orchid in that solution, letting it soak for about 8 to 9 hours (it is said that it can be left for a whole day).
Then I submerged it for an hour in stagnant water.
That’s it. When I took it out of the water and put it back in its usual position, I immediately noticed that the leaves were fuller and the flowers stood up.
The next day she looked much better and gradually made a full recovery, a miracle for my sister, just sugar for me!
Here’s what my orchid looks like; the purple one has even sprouted the most since I brought it home.
Kind regards, Evka from Ilava
So don’t forget to try to help a damaged or wilted orchid by soaking it in a sugar solution made up of a teaspoon of sugar and a litre of water. Then leave it in warm water for another hour.
That’s all!
More tips with sugar A tablespoon in each pot Almost all flowering houseplants enjoy sweets (even flowering cacti): of course, not in large quantities, but a little sugar in the soil can stimulate and revitalize them.
Simply add sugar before watering: 1/2 teaspoon per pot with a diameter of at least 10 cm (sprinkle on the soil) or prepare a sugar watering: ½ teaspoon of sugar per 250 ml of water.
We use it as a stimulant once a month, before flowering (when the plant begins to release its buds).
It will destroy nematodes in the garden.
Here is a Spanish version of the article:
If your garden plants look in poor condition and have nodules on their roots, they have probably been the victims of an attack by nematodes. These tiny worms attack the roots.
You can prevent the attack of these discreet parasites by creating an unfavorable environment for them with sugar.
Sprinkle approximately 2 kilograms of sugar per 25 square meters of garden.
Microorganisms that feed on sugar will increase the amount of organic substances in the soil, thus displacing dangerous invaders.
Gardener and florist at the same time If your flowers are wilting and you don’t know what to do, take a close look at their roots; the problem could be worms attacking them.
Therefore, try adding sugar to the soil, which will support the activity of beneficial bacteria and microorganisms.
They will provide the most hostile environment for other worms.
It is recommended to add sugar and vinegar to the water occasionally during regular waterings.
About two tablespoons of sugar and two tablespoons of vinegar per pint of water will provide additional nutrition for the flowers.
And to make them look beautiful not only in the garden but also in a vase, add sugar and vinegar for prolonged freshness.
Quick Cleansing for Greasy and Dirty Hands If you have a lot of grease, dirt or paint on your hands, clean them easily and carefully by pouring a small amount of crystallized sugar into your palms and then adding the same amount of olive oil.
