Clogged sink? Natural, chemical-free drain cleaner!

By Lesia

How many times have we been in a hurry  and had to resort to a chemical plunger  or, in the worst case, a plumber? Well, if you don’t want to do all this, there is a way to solve the problem with a product that you can make yourself and that is eco-sustainable.  A completely natural product  that cleans your kitchen or bathroom sink in minutes.

These problems always occur on Saturdays or Sundays and  having a system that quickly resolves the situation  without chemicals is the best solution. These are actually some methods that grandmothers used in the past and that, when put into practice, are still valid today.

But what is it that clogs our sinks?  If it is the kitchen sink, it is likely that food remains have formed a blockage over time  , but if it is the bathroom sink, it may be that hair, beards, etc. have clogged it. Chemical products found on the market are usually effective, but in addition to being unsustainable and harmful to the environment, they are also very expensive. Now we will illustrate the alternatives already mentioned above.

Clogged sink? Natural, chemical-free drain cleaner!

So how do you unclog a clogged sink?

In our grandparents’ time,  there were no chemicals to clear a blockage  , so 4 tablespoons of salt, 4 tablespoons of baking soda and boiling water were used to remove it. By placing everything directly in the sink, the blockage  will be cleared in just a few minutes  . Alternatively, you can pour the boiling water used to cook the potatoes down the drain.

Another method is to  boil a litre of vinegar and pour it directly into the  blocked drain, or a tablespoon of salt first and a glass of vinegar afterwards. But these are not the only methods. In fact, you can also add a tablespoon of salt, a tablespoon of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of vinegar to boiling water in the same order. Everything will be  free in a few minutes  (this is usually used for difficult blockages).

Even for  hard-to-clean sinks, there is an alternative  : just pour a tablespoon of salt, a tablespoon of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of vinegar with boiling water into a bowl.  Wait for  the chemical reaction of these elements to begin when frying and only then pour it into the pipe. If by chance you still haven’t gotten the desired result, then move on to this method: half a cup of salt, half a cup of baking soda and a quarter cup of tartaric acid.

Now  let it sit for a few hours  and then turn on the water, the drain will probably now be free of the obstruction.
