How to remove the rotting smell from the fridge and make our fridge smell good again. The easy-to-implement solution.

The  refrigerator  is one of the appliances present in every home. It is used to keep the food and drinks that we need to eat fresh every day. Therefore, every time you go shopping, you will put the different foods inside the refrigerator.

There is also space inside for the freezer, so you can place frozen products and those you want to keep for longer.

However, one  problem  we often face is  unpleasant smells coming out of the refrigerator  every time it is opened. The reasons for this are linked to the possible fall of some food residues, which over time encourage the formation of these unpleasant smells.

The only way to keep these bad smells away is  to periodically clean the inside of the refrigerator  , taking specific steps between the different compartments and the walls. Do you know the best way to do this?  Here is the perfect remedy  that we propose to you in this article. We are sure that you will not be disappointed.

How to remove the rotten smell from the refrigerator

Cleaning experts recommend  cleaning the inside of the refrigerator every 5 to 7 weeks  . Approximately every month and a half, therefore, it is advisable to carry out this operation to always have a refrigerator in “perfect condition” and free of unpleasant odors. However, the freezer should be defrosted at least once every 5 or 6 months.

There are specific products on the market  for cleaning the inside of your refrigerator  . By spraying this  detergent  , mixed with warm water, and using a microfibre cloth or a special sponge, you will be able to clean all areas of your refrigerator as well as possible.

To clean the shelves and walls, it is recommended  to empty the refrigerator completely  . Therefore, you should not leave any food inside. The removable parts of the refrigerator can be removed and cleaned more easily separately.

If you don’t want to buy any detergent from specialist shops, it’s worth knowing that there are some really useful “homemade” solutions to keep unpleasant odours away. For example, just place a  container filled with water and baking soda  or a simple  glass of vinegar in the fridge  .

These ingredients will keep unpleasant smells away. There is also a  really effective DIY solution  to  remove dirt and bad smells from your fridge  . Which one? Here you will find everything you need to know about it and how to make and use it.

The homemade mixture to clean the refrigerator at home

It will be advisable to use a large spoonful of  baking soda  in a container containing approximately  500 milliliters of water  . At this point, you will have to mix the added substance into the water with a ladle, but that’s not all. In fact, it will be important to also combine  the kitchen salt  with the baking soda. And then?

As we mentioned, you will also add three teaspoons of table salt to the container   . Mix everything together and then proceed to add a few  teaspoons of detergent  . Once you have added and mixed all the ingredients we just mentioned, all that is left to do is head to your refrigerator.

Using a  regular microfiber cloth  , you will apply the mixture to better clean the inside of your refrigerator. It will be moistened within the DIY solution created and then wrung out well before passing between the shelves and walls of the refrigerator.

This move will not only serve to  remove stains and incrustations   that form due to the presence of food and the possible spillage of oil or other substances inside. Wiping it with a cloth soaked in the specific mixture will also serve to  perfume the refrigerator and completely eliminate  bad odors.

With the cloth, in addition to the walls and the various shelves, you can also clean the side compartments, those used to place drinks, eggs or other specific foods.

As mentioned above, you will need to clean your fridge quite often. If you don’t do this, the unpleasant odours will be stronger and it will be harder to remove dirt when you wipe it with a microfibre cloth. However, if you do this approximately every 5-7 weeks,  your fridge will always be shiny  and mopping will be a breeze.
