By Lesia

If there’s one thing that bugs me, it’s when my refrigerator drain hole gets clogged.

You know what? The one down the back.

There’s always a piece of lettuce and other dirt stuck to it!

Not only does this cause mold, but it also causes water to leak all over your refrigerator…

And out into the world if you don’t do anything about it.

Luckily, Darty, the technician, explained to me how to unclog and clean your refrigerator drain hole.

It’s super easy with this simple tutorial. Watch this:

How to do it

Unplug your appliance from the power outlet.
Remove the shelf that’s over the drain hole and the vegetable bin.
Use a sponge to dry the water under the vegetable drawer and in the drain.
Get a cotton ball.
Dip it in white vinegar.
First, run it around the opening.
Then insert it deep into the hole and move it back and forth.
Pour in some hot water to remove the dirt.
Reinstall the shelf and crisper drawer and reconnect the refrigerator.

And you have easily unblocked the refrigerator drain hole

Quick, practical and effective, isn’t it?

No more water flowing due to the clogged drain!

It’s a very simple trick. You just have to think about it!

Unblocking the refrigerator drain is really simple.

And it helps to empty the refrigerator.

Now the water flows normally.

No more flooding under the drawer and no more mold!

And have you noticed? This way you will also eliminate bad smells.

What object should you use to clean the refrigerator drain?

The best way to unblock the refrigerator drain is to use a special tool called Spargetti.

You can find it here and it works for the freezer too.

But as we just saw, you can also use a simple cotton swab if you don’t have one.

And it also works with a plastic straw, a small bottle brush, a flexible steel wire or a self-locking cable tie.

How to avoid clogging it?
It is best to avoid clogging the famous hole.

To do this, simply do not store any food in the back of the refrigerator.

For example, lettuce, carrots or other vegetables should not touch the back wall of the refrigerator.

This keeps dirt and plants out of the hole.

Incidentally, this is also why some shelves have a small lip.

This eliminates the temptation to shove groceries all the way to the back!

Also remember to clean your refrigerator regularly.

This is a great way to get rid of all the dirt that has gotten lost in the hole.

It is best to do a big clean every three months.

Why does it work?
White vinegar cleans and disinfects the edges of the hole.

It also removes traces of mold that have developed.

The soft rod can be used to remove trapped dirt from the hole. It serves as a drain cleaner.

And the water poured will help flush them out.

This opening provides access to the drain tank above the refrigerator compressor.

It is therefore important that it is well constipated.

Otherwise the water will collect and drip onto the kitchen floor.

Warning: do not use bleach!

And you should know that this trick works for all brands of refrigerators:

Bosch, Whirlpool, Samsung, Liebherr, but also for American refrigerators or built-in refrigerators.
