Here are some natural tips for cleaning your iron

By Lesia

Every detail counts when it comes to our appearance: From haircut to makeup, we attach great importance to our physique and we do not skimp on efforts to be at least presentable. In particular, our clothes are one of the most important aspects of our appearance. The iron is a tool that allows us to give a clear and wrinkle-free presence to our clothes. However, and with use, an iron can accumulate dirt and burns, here is how to clean it.

For the most fussy among us, details matter. Retouched magazine photos subconsciously push us to chase every imperfection from our appearance. The same goes for wrinkles in clothing and for this reason, an iron seems to be an indispensable tool to fix them.

The iron can be tricky to clean.
The iron is one of those tools that we cannot do without if our appearance is of any importance to us. While it is relatively easy to use, the heat it emits can be problematic: A moment of inattention, an impromptu phone call or repeated use can cause burns or dirt to appear that will be difficult to get rid of. Don’t panic, we are here to give you several tips that will allow you to restore the shine to your iron.

7 tips for cleaning your iron
There are several ways to clean your iron using natural and inexpensive products , but you just have to choose the one that suits you best:

1 – Salt
An essential product in our kitchen and an essential flavor enhancer, salt is one of those natural products that can replace chemical cleaning products. What people know less is that salt is an excellent way to clean your favorite iron. Sprinkle a tea towel with several spoons of salt and plug in your appliance. As soon as it is hot, iron the tea towel by sliding over the grains of salt. Once the stains have disappeared, turn off your iron and pass a damp tea towel when it is cold enough.

2 – Vinegar
If the previous method was not enough, you can then use this slightly more powerful method. You can mix white vinegar and salt, heat the mixture before soaking a cloth in it. All you have to do is rub the plate of your iron well on the spot of the most stubborn stains. Once this is done, use a second clean damp cloth to wipe your iron.

3 – Lemon
Whether to accompany your dishes or to help you lose weight, lemon is a citrus fruit with multiple benefits. Used by our grandmothers to clean every nook and cranny of their homes, you will be surprised to learn that no stain will resist lemon , not even those on your iron. Cut a lemon in half and rub your iron directly. Rinse with a damp cloth. A simple but no less effective method.

4 – Baking soda
Every cleaning enthusiast knows how essential baking soda is. It’s no surprise that it’s on this list. Mix baking soda with hot water before soaking a cloth in it, rub the soleplate of your iron before cleaning with a clean sponge.

5 – Hydrogen peroxide
Another tip that has the merit of being simple is to simply use hydrogen peroxide. A cloth and some elbow grease will allow you to obtain a clear result!

6 – Toothpaste
And yes, toothpaste can also help you clean your iron. While it is possible to make homemade toothpaste to take care of your oral health, you can use your supermarket-bought toothpaste for this tip. To do this, simply rub the cold soleplate of your appliance with toothpaste. Use a cloth to apply the paste, then simply rinse and wipe with a clean, damp cloth.

7 – Marseille soap
Marseille soap is a product known and recognized for its extraordinary cleaning properties. In order to clean your iron, simply rub dry soap on the warm soleplate of your iron. Then simply wipe everything with a clean cloth.
