How to clean carpets at home
In these times, when saving is essential for a large part of Italian families, even taking a carpet to the laundry can be a cost that many would prefer to avoid . Undoubtedly, however, the carpet is a piece of furniture that needs cleaning. So, how to do it?
You can use a type of wash called “dry”, which involves using products without the need for rinsing . In our case, it will be enough to use baking soda.
This ingredient is especially indicated for cleaning as it is an excellent disinfectant that absorbs odors, moisture and grease stains and allows for deep cleaning of fabrics .
The method of use is actually very simple, just spread the baking soda on the surface of the carpet using a sieve or a rather fine mesh strainer, so as to spray the product avoiding the formation of lumps. Once the entire carpet is covered, leave it to act for at least two hours , after which you can vacuum up all the baking soda with a vacuum cleaner . The baking soda, in addition to removing stains and sanitizing, will also retain hair, fur and dirt, as well as dust.
Once sanitized, you can proceed to eliminate any odors .
To do this you will need 500ml of unscented distilled water, 100ml of white vinegar and a few drops of essential oil. Pay attention to the type of essential oils you choose, make sure they are of natural origin and that their scent is suitable for the environment.
All you have to do is mix all the ingredients in a container with the spray and spray the mixture at a distance of about 40 cm from the carpet without wetting it too much. If possible, let it air dry or in any case with the windows open and after a few hours your carpet will be clean, sanitized and scented.
