How to clean and shine tiles?
Do you want to clean your dirty and tarnished tiles? Do you want them to regain all their shine and brilliance, as if they were new? It’s possible!
To clean your tiles, you don’t need to resort to expensive chemicals. My grandmother was a household fairy. She had her secrets for removing stains and giving shine and brilliance to all terracotta tiles, whether white or black.
- LINSEED OIL TO MAKE DOUBLE TILES SHINE
Some materials require care and lose their shine over time. This is particularly true for terracotta, cement and even ceramic tiles. And among all the natural ingredients, linseed oil is undoubtedly the best for taking care of these tiles! However, be careful: a few drops on a clean cloth are enough to make the tiles shine, without turning them into an ice rink. Be careful and let the oil absorb well into the floor as it dries. You can then reapply as needed. - POTATO COOKING WATER
When cooking, do not throw away the cooking water from boiled potatoes. Use it instead to clean the tiles. The starch contained in this solution absorbs the grease stuck to the surface. This process is recommended once a month to maintain the shine of the tiles. - BLACK SOAP IS A NATURAL MULTI-SURFACE MAINTENANCE PRODUCT
If black soap is essential for fans of the D system, it is because it is an excellent cleaning agent. The reason: it is a degreasing and disinfecting agent, suitable for tiles, linoleum and even parquet. Its advantage is that it not only cleans dirty and dusty floors, but also gives a touch of shine that you will not be able to do without. To benefit from this mixture of oil and black olives, you must mix it with a liter of water in a bucket. If you want a spotless house, take a mop and gently scrub each floor. Magic, isn’t it? - WHITE VINEGAR
The most common method for making tiles shine is to use white vinegar. There are two ways to do it:
Directly in the washing water: When preparing your usual washing water, pour 4 tablespoons of white vinegar into the bucket, then clean the floor. Discover here all our tips for taking care of your floor and cleaning your tiles properly.
After cleaning: After cleaning your tiles, prepare a bucket of hot water. Pour one or two glasses of white vinegar depending on the amount of water. Then polish with a mop or sponge. It is also possible to complete the preparation by adding baking soda.
- CHOOSE LEMON TO GIVE YOUR TILES A SHINE
Once your tiles are completely clean, there is one last step to restore their shine: polishing.
It’s very simple: Soak a sponge or mop in lemon juice and leave it to act for an hour. Lemon restores all the shine to all the dirty and dull tiles and also provides a pleasant scent!
Finally, you can use a chamois to finish a tiled worktop.
- LIQUID SOAP
If the tiles are very stained, simply add a few drops of a product that does not attack the cement joints, such as liquid hand soap or dishwashing detergent.
And there you have it! In addition, the mop must be damp, it must not drip water! Dry with another dry microfiber mop.
