The microwave isn’t just for heating! 7 cool features you didn’t know about.

It’s hard to find a home where the kitchen is without a microwave. A tireless ally that defrosts, heats and prepares delicacies from time to time.

But as you know, human ingenuity has no limits. And today, the microwave has become an indispensable appliance for cooking and solving other household tasks. At “Con Sabor”, we have prepared an interesting article about the microwave, which may not be known to everyone.


Microwave options

Making coffee foam Do you want Starbucks-like coffee? You don’t need a coffee maker if you have a microwave. Pour some milk into a glass container with a lid and stir as needed. Then, place the container in the microwave for 30 seconds. You will get a high foam, just add it with a teaspoon to the coffee in the cup.
Cleaning garlic Place a head of garlic in the microwave and turn it on at full power for 15 seconds. The peel will be left behind, you just need to remove it with one movement.
Making potato chips Cut the potatoes into slices, place them on a plate with parchment paper, add a little oil, salt and spices. Then put it in the microwave for 3 minutes. Finally, leave them in for another 3 minutes.
Removing the skin from vegetables and fruits To avoid immersing tomatoes, for example, in boiling water, make a cross cut in each vegetable and then place them in the microwave for 2 minutes.
Sterilizing jars This trick will appeal to all lovers of home-made preserves. Wash the jars without drying them, place them in the microwave and turn it on at maximum power. 1.5 – 2 minutes is enough for the water to evaporate and the jars to be clean. When they are completely dry, turn off the appliance.
Making flatbread boats Snacks on the party table will look even more delicious if you present them in these little boats. Prepare them in advance using thin circles of flatbread and dry them easily in the microwave. To shape the round, you can use a glass or a bowl. Or even easier: instead of flatbread, use pita bread.


Steaming vegetables Place the prepared vegetables (washed and cut) in a suitable bowl, add salt, spices and cover with microwave-safe cling film. Then put it in the microwave for 15-20 minutes at low power.
And finally, another tip: if you want the room to quickly fill with a pleasant aroma (vanilla, cinnamon or another favorite spice), pour a pinch onto a plate and turn on the microwave for 15 seconds. Try it, you will be surprised! And don’t forget to share your impressions with your friends.
