How to clean the soleplate of your iron?
There are household chores that are more or less pleasant to do, and ironing is one of those that we hate, or love. There are those who find it relaxing, while those who hate doing it and would prefer to avoid it.
In any case, the iron is very important to have clothes that are always impeccable. However, it can happen that the plate is completely burnt and this can happen for a number of different reasons.
The most common is the accumulation of synthetic material on the iron plate, on which excess detergent or due to normal wear and tear can also accumulate. Below we list the most effective tips for cleaning a burnt iron soleplate.
Salt. Take a dry cloth and sprinkle a few tablespoons of table salt on it. Heat the iron, then rub the cloth sprinkled with salt over it until the burn stains disappear. Finally, let it cool and wipe with a damp cloth.
Vinegar. If the burn stains are more difficult to remove, vinegar will certainly be the right choice for you. Heat some white vinegar, soak a cloth in it and then pass it over the burnt plate. If this does not remove the stains, add 2 or 3 tablespoons of baking soda to the hot vinegar and repeat the process. Don’t forget to clean the plate before putting it away.
Candle method. As strange as it may seem, this method is one of the most effective. Heat the soleplate of the iron, but do not let it get hot. Unplug it, then pass a white candle horizontally over the plate: the wax will start to melt.
Then pass the still hot iron over an old towel or microfiber cloth, as if you were ironing. Finally, once the plate has cooled, first wipe the surface with half a lemon, then with a dry cloth.
