How to unclog toilet with a homemade plunger?
If your toilet has a habit of easily clogging when you flush too much waste, there may be a clog in the drain. So there is a way to make sure the clog is properly evacuated.
For this homemade method, you need to prepare a drain cleaner using only hot water, baking soda, and vinegar.
Step 1: Heat the water
First, start by heating 2 liters of water to a temperature that corresponds to the coffee or tea you usually drink. The water should not be too hot, as strong heat can crack the fragile porcelain of the toilet bowl.
Step 2: Pour 1 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of vinegar
Next, pour 1 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of white vinegar (preferably distilled) down the toilet. These two natural ingredients are known for their cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing properties. They have the perfect ability to remove scale and lime deposits. This will create a chemical process that helps dissolve clogs. However, if you don’t have baking soda or vinegar, you can always use a few squirts of toilet soap.
Step 3: Pour hot water into the bowl
Then pour the hot water from waist level (not from the side of the bowl) so that the water is strong enough to loosen the clog that the baking soda and white vinegar have loosened.
Step 4: Let the mixture sit
After pouring the mixture, do not immediately flush the toilet. Let it run well for a while. Preferably, we even recommend that you let it sit overnight.
You will be pleasantly surprised by the result: this homemade cleaner is very effective in solving drainage problems and quickly removing organic clogs.
Good to know: if the clog is caused by a hard clog, such as a toy, for example, you can be sure that it will not lodge itself in the pipes. Often, the object is quite visible, but difficult to catch with bare hands. In this case, to retrieve it easily, you can make a sort of hook by bending a coat hanger or use a drain snake dedicated to plumbing problems. On the other hand, the suction cup is not the best solution, you risk pushing the toy further and causing other damage to the toilet.
