  • Location: Plant the buddleia in a spot with direct access to sunlight. It can tolerate partial shade, but will prefer full sun to show off its intense colours.
  • Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist. Avoid overwatering to prevent the flowers from wilting. Overwatering is not advisable.

  • Soil preparation: Make sure the soil is well-drained, moderately fertile and enriched with compost at the time of planting. This will help the shrub to establish quickly.

  • Pruning: Perform an annual pruning by removing old shoots at the end of April. Cut last year’s branches to a height of 20-30 cm from the ground to encourage the growth of new flowers.
  • Winter protection: Before winter arrives, protect the buddleia from the cold using agrofibre or pine bark to prevent frost damage.

By following these steps, you can enjoy a colorful garden with the beautiful tricolor buddleia from spring to autumn.
