If you plant them early, you can get a bountiful harvest two months earlier.

  1. Soil preparation: Choose a sunny, fertile, well-drained spot. Prepare the soil in advance by digging it up, removing weeds, and enriching it with compost or manure.
  2. Bulb selection: Inspect the bulbs and garlic cloves to make sure they are in good condition, with no visible damage or disease.

  1. Planting depth and spacing:
  • Garlic: Plant about 6 cm deep, in rows 10 cm apart, with 20 cm between bulbs.
  • Onions: Bury about 4 cm deep (tip just visible from the ground), in rows 7 cm apart, with 30 cm between plants.

  1. Aftercare: Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. During winter, protect the plants from frost with a light mulch.

Planting garlic and onions in the fall will allow you to harvest earlier and get larger, healthier bulbs. Make sure to start planting about four weeks before the first frost to prevent the plants from growing too fast and becoming damaged.
