Anthurium doesn’t want to bloom? Make it fertilizer from this vegetable and it will be covered in flowers!

By Lesia

You’re right, Anthuriums can be finicky bloomers! Here’s the secret:

Fertilize with Banana Peel Tea

  • Why it works: Banana peels are rich in potassium, phosphorus, and calcium – essential nutrients for abundant flowering in Anthuriums.
  • How to make it:
    1. Peel a banana and save the peels.
    2. Place the peels in a jar and cover them with water.
    3. Let the mixture sit for a few days, or until the water turns slightly brown.
    4. Remove the peels and use the liquid to water your Anthurium.

Bonus Tip: You can also finely chop the peels and mix them into the top layer of your Anthurium’s soil.

Remember, good Anthurium care is about more than just fertilizer:

  • Bright, Indirect Light: Anthuriums need plenty of bright, indirect sunlight to bloom. Avoid direct sun.
  • Warmth and Humidity: These tropical plants thrive in warm, humid conditions.
  • Well-Draining Soil: Anthuriums hate soggy soil. Use a well-draining potting mix.
  • Consistent Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.

Be patient and consistent, and your Anthurium will reward you with a bounty of beautiful blooms!
